Upon returning to Los Angeles, it wasn't long before Tendaji began making his mark spinning at various clubs and events. After paying his dues in the late 90s, things began to take off for Tendaji in the new millennium. In the summer of 2001 Tendaji toured with Cedric the Entertainer on his national comedy tour. He would take the stage and spin a short set to get the crowd hyped before Cedric took the stage.

This lead to various gigs spinning at A-List events. In 2002, Tendaji returned to the Bay Area to DJ the Def Poetry Jam stage production which was based on the hit HBO series. After a short but very successful run in San Francisco, Def Poetry Jam made its debut on Broadway in NYC. The show ran for 10 months and won a Tony Award in 2003. While in New York, Tendaji DJ'd at many different parties and events, many of which were associated with Def Jam Records and Phat Farm Clothing. Tendaji soon returned home to Los Angeles, and has been doing high-end events on a regular basis ever since.

He has earned the reputation as the DJ for all types of events. Ranging from A-list celebrity birthday parties to movie premieres to elite cocktail parties, Tendaji has done it all. His vast knowledge and love of different musical genres allows him to spin for any crowd, on any coast. Using Hip Hop, Rock, Soul, Old School, House/Electro, Reggae whatever the client, whatever the crowd is into DJ Tendaji can mix it. He has done a broad range of events with such industry heavyweights as Russell Simmons, Leo Dicaprio, Michael Jordan, Stevie Wonder and Mary J. Blige as well as for exclusive corporate clients like Jaguar and Coach. Always keeping his finger on the pulse, Tendaji has worked with and aligned himself with event-planning giants like The A-List, Event Eleven and Harrison-Shriftman to name a few. He has also done countless parties at many of L.A.'s hottest clubs, as well as travel to New York, Miami and Las Vegas to spin. Tendaji's clients continue to hire him not only for his party-rocking prowess but also for his consistent professionalism. Tendaji believes in giving 110% no matter what the event is. Earlier in his career, he also worked in production in the film/TV industry. This means he understands the importance of punctuality and preparation. His easy-going, stress-free attitude and polished skills make him a crowd favorite at every event he does. His experience with college radio led to interviews with such artists as Eminem, Xzibit, The Black Eyed Peas, and Kelis while they were in the early stages of their careers.  Chris earned an internship at KIIS-FM and studied under legendary Rick Dees on his morning show.  This led to a position at 92.3 The Beat during its streak of dominance in L.A. radio.  While there he got to watch Theo, John London, Kevin Nash, and Diana Steele, but learned the most as the producer on Julio G’s night show, as well as Street Science with Dominique Diprima, and the Temple of Hiphop with KRS-1. When Chris was ready for his own show, he took over the late night shift at Hot 94.1 in Bakersfield, CA.  After gaining #1 rating in the market, he moved over to Hot 92 Jamz in L.A. with the SoundLab Mix Show on Friday nights.  Chris then took his career to the next level by becoming the Program Director for a start-up station called WILD 96.1 in San Bernardino, CA.  After helping build the station from scratch, he took over the midday slot and quickly developed a strong fan base. Next, Chris was approached about helping launch a new station in Los Angeles that eventually would become 93.5FM KDAY, where he was the Assistant Program Director/Music Director and early afternoon jock.

Now that Chris is back at WILD 96.1 hosting the Night Show, he's working on taking his media career to the next step.  After interviewing such artists as Sean Paul, Trina, Mike Epps, Chamillionaire and many other entertainers, Chris is planning his next move into the television, film and DVD markets.  His ultimate goal of becoming a major media mogul in the likes of Russell Simmons is bound to happen soon for him in the next couple of years.

DJ SKREAM

djskream96.3fm.jpg

djskreamwc.jpg

Radio has always been in Skream's blood. His Father and Step Father were two of Los Angeles biggest Heavyweights on the Spanish Radio Market. Skream just never realized that he has what it takes, and he says that he still doesn't... He just does it for fun!

Most people would be surprised to know that Dj Skream collects and spins Hard House, Progressive House, Trance, Drum & Bass/ Jungle, Underground Hip-Hop, Rock, Old Skool, Salsa y Merengue, Hip-Hop & R&B, and now Reggaeton.

When people come up to him they look surprised that he spins House, "Most people think I am only into Hip-Hop, but I say never judge a book by its cover!" With his versatility in music he was able to Dj all kind of parties, from Sweet Sixteen's to Barmitzva's to the Clubs of Los Angeles and more. His styles and aggression are expressed every time he gets on the turntables.

Raised by a single mother it was rather difficult for Dj Skream to just go and purchase turntables and a mixer. " I am gonna be honest it took me a while to get in the game cuz a lot of these dj's just went and asked Mommy or Daddy to buy them equipment,.. I am not saying all but some. I had to bust my A$$ to get the cheese to buy my stuff!" he exclaims. "I had to do whatever I had to do to save my chips and get what I have today! from mowing lawns to working at fast food joints!" he says as he looks at his mixer. "Yeah my dad was there, well actually my step-dad cuz my real dad left my moms when I was 2 years old, but I never asked him for a dime, all the stuff that I got today was because I decided to work and pay for my own sh!t!" he remarks as he smiles at his Rane TTM 56.

Putting work on the streets with some of his turntable buddies Dj Skream went from Dj'ing house parties to being on Tour with local bands and Dj'ing @ Local Clubs. He explains;

"My first Club that I ever did was Coconut Teazers on the Sunset Strip the summer of 1997 every other Thursday. Before that I did a lot of events for this one underground Latino Hip-Hop crew called 5th Battalion & N'Cognito, we did shows all over Los Angeles- did performances for example at the Key Club, The Viper Room, the Roxy ., and small venues in Los Angeles. Then I went up north to the Santa Clarita Valley to DJ this one spot called Shooters. People from all over Southern California and Northern Cali came to party. We had guest appearances from The Luniz to a show with the Black Eyed Peas. I did various club events in Santa Clarita. I came back down to Los Angeles to DJ @ Las Palmas. I was also doing guest spots for example- The Highlands , Club Blue, Ivar, Cinespace, Garden of Eden and A.D., just to name a few. I even got to do this one guest spot on a local Radio Station in Los Angeles, not to realize it was a dj battle... I came in 3 rd place!.. Not bad because it was supposed to be an Old Skool Mix and I did R&B. I've been real fortunate to have met real cool people that I have clicked up with, to help me out with this whole DJ thang. Being determined and with a lot of practice can benefit you in the long run. Right now you can catch me doing my thing Live in The Mix @ Latino 96.3fm, for the Latino Mix Weekends!, also at Local Clubs from L.A. to San Diego and back up to the Bay!.... soon to be WORLD WIDE!!! Thanks to the power of the internet! With a little side project that I am trying to launch real soon: " Out the Trunk Radio" hah hah hah!

-Hip-Hop & Reggaeton,.. WOW!, I just can't believe that my dreams are soon to become a reality! ? To Travel The World!"

Dj Skream loves mixing because he says he has always loved music and has since he was a little youngster. It is a way for him to express himself and show what he is feeling. Listen for him during the Latino Mix Weekends on Latino 96.3fm to see for yourself.

DJ AB-LOON

abloo.jpg

Ab-Loon got his first set of tables in winter of 1996. Back then it was just something for him to do in his room, because he was too shy to spin in front of peoples. But he knew he had talent and one day would be ready to show his friends what he's been up too. Started off spinning House and Trance, Ab was the relief for his friends at hip hop parties. Deejaying with hip hop deejays, it was only a matter of time that he will get more into what is now his love of his life....HIP HOP!Present day....Ab-Loon has no problem doing his thang in front of hundreds and even thousands of people. Spinning at world famous spots like Viper Room, Key Club, House of Blues and many other places inside and outside Hollywood. Ab-Loon stays true to the ol-skool by using REAL VINYL any chance he gets. No matter what...Ab always has fun on the tables. And will continue to do his thang until that big guy above tells him otherwise...

CHILLY C.

chilly40th.jpg

chillyc104.1fm.jpg

My name is Chris Neuenkirk Some people know me as: DJ CHILLY C..... I have been a Dee Jay and reggae music historian for 25 years... I started D.J.ing back in 1981.. I buy and sell records for a living with Funkyou! If you are a dj, beat digger, or just a collector who buys records online you may be familiar with the name. Funkyou! is known worldwide for selling records and has even been featured in the magazine Wax Poetics (Issue 13). Based in St. Louis, Funkyou! travels the US buying record collections.I also have worked on some current reggae compilations from Heartbeat Records / Studio One.. Bob Marley: Another Dance Gladiators: Singles Collection. And most recently: Lee Perry: Chicken Scratch Deluxe Edition These are out in the stores coast to coast, also available on vinyl. I would like to gratefully thank Leroy Jodie Pierson and Chris Wilson at Heartbeat Records for my involvement in these projects. Thank You.Check out my RARE RECORD BLOG @ RADICBEATS.BLOGSPOT.COM.I blame my pops for giving me the record bug. I got my 1st record player when I was 4 years old. He had been collecting since 1960 and from as far back as I can remember, there was music playing in the house. I was primarally raised on jazz, with brazillian jazz and bossa nova and vocals mostly played. With that being said, I have a vast knowledge of the genre.St.Louis played host to one of the first listener supported radio stations in the united states. The station was called KDNA 102.5 FM. Located in Gaslight Square. The mother of KDHX and the creator of Double Helix. He was a Dee Jay there from 1969-1973 and helped build the music library there.Leonard Slatkin,Gabriel (who is currently on KDHX 88.1 FM Sunday nights) were some of the more notable programmers of that time. KDNA folded and was sold for 2.5 million 1973 dollars. An unheard of amount of money back then. KEZK has been using that frequency to this very day.All of the above is why I am in this buisness today..If you ever have any questions about records or just want to chat, feel free to send me a message.. Here is more about myself. One of my 1st spins was at Heartbreak Hotel w/ Joe Striker playing reggae, where B.B.s Blues and Soups is currently residing... In 1989 I met a D.J. by the name of KDJ. He had a renovated space at 1624 delmar called: Studio KDJ. This is where I took the last 8 years of practicing at home and doing house partys (4 Horsemen) to an Official club level. after a year or so of creating a buzz in downtown st. louis, KDJ landed a thursday night spot at a bar called the West Bank Club. with little or no advertising, we proceeded to have a very sucessful thursday night of epic crowd proportions.Outgrowing our space and countless thursday nights of me hauling around a 2000 watt Hi - Fi system, we finally landed the the Hi - Fi at a larger club called: Sonny's. With the equipment in a secure place, we ended up having the most sucessful primetime thursday, friday and saturday nights in St. Louis for a predominant hip hop spin...Honorable mention goes out to Stages nightclub on route 203 for hosting some of the biggest nights ever. Word up to Mikey - B for putting me on to play Hip Hop late night's at the legendary Stages night club...After our stint at sonny's, we moved to a club on washington av. called: Evolution (formerly 1227). We worked there for a bit and parted ways in Nov. 1994.I sold my 1st collection of records and moved to New York City and got a job at a syndicated radio production company called United Stations Radio Networks. I Dee Jayed at a club on the lower east side called: The Koop. The Koop was a club where I could spin real jamaican roots music and Hip Hop. I found it fascinating then, that all different kinds of people would come in to the club. Dee Jaying on the lower east side was a great experience.New York was a lot different in 1995 and it was the year of the independent Hip Hop label. On the commercial side of things, meeting Biggie Smalls at the Apollo theatre was incredible. When I worked at United Stations, I used to tag along with my co-worker bryan kweskin to the Apollo. His job was to tape the Showtime at the Apollo, hosted by Steve Harvey. I met a lot of famous people there as we had All Access passes for every taping. Seeing Junior m.a.f.i.a. perform "Players Anthem" for the first time LIVE, was bananas !! Enough about Harlem, Back to the L.E.S.I used to dig in the 2nd hand shops near tomkins square park for records and bumped into an employee of Fat Beats by the name of: Ryan Sikowski. He introduced me to the owner Joe and DJ Eclipse. Hanging out at Fat Beats became a daily habit after work near Grand Central. My most memorable moment at the store was seeing DJ CASH MONEY and DJ RIZ go head to head on the wheels in a impromptu scratch off for fun after hours in the store. I just wanna say that DJ RIZ is ONE BAD ASS WHITE DUDE on the wheels. He reluctantly used cash's copy's of Peter Piper and fucking killed it. Both of these guys are world class. Meeting and hanging out with Bobbito was epic as well. If you ever move to New York to live, fasten your seat belts.I moved back to St.Louis in 1997 and took my leftover Hip Hop collection that I saved and started to rebuild. My 1st job back in the Lou was: Hyperspace on locust st. Charlie Chan and Rich Money had the night there and they were nice enough to let me spin. It was kind of weird being back but it was a start.I bounced around for a while doin different dates and eventually met B-Money. He started a spin with DJ Alehaun DJ Needles and FLY DX called: The Science. They took this spin to KDHX and started to spin live on the air. DJ Alehaun was making records with a group called concept of A.L.P.S. DJ Solo was with The Science as well. Eventually, The Science moved to Blueberry Hill and broadcasted live on 88.1 from the Kool Herc Room (formally known as the elvis room). In 2002 DJ Solo semi retired from Dee Jaying, B-Money moved to New York and I landed a spot on the Science program. I alternated with DJ Grocery and Agile One. The Science folded December 2006. I currently spin at The Delmar Lounge. You can hear me Dee Jay in rotation w/ DJ C BEYOND & DJ CRUCIAL @ the Delmar Lounge on saturday nights. Check the schedule.I am currently working new beats.
